PROFILE

The Enterprise Application Specialist provides intermediate application level support for enterprise application installation, configuration and integration of software. The incumbent is responsible for ensuring the Information Technology requirements within the various practice areas of the firm are addressed and make appropriate recommendations. This individual is responsible for automated practice support systems and identifying and recommending productivity improvements. This position receives some direction or guidance; most tasks and objectives are accomplished independently.

This role is for a one (1) year contract and can be based out of any of our Canadian offices.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide advance support to the help desk technicians along with other members of the IT staff through the completion of calls assigned by the Service Desk on enterprise applications. Providing end-user support when required for enterprise applications used by the Firm.
  • Provide technical support to the network infrastructure group, to ensure the proper configuration and operation of all standard applications and proprietary programs in a networked environment.
  • Provide guidance and mentoring to other team members supporting the enterprise application(s).
  • Install upgrades and maintaining current versions of software and install new software as required.
  • Monitor uptime and usage of their respective portfolio of enterprise applications.
  • Ensure compliance and consistency with software as used across the firm. Work within standard ITIL service management processes of Changes, Incidents, Service Requests and Problems, and utilise appropriate change and release procedures to ensure the smooth operation of business services.
  • Identify, test, evaluate, and recommend applications and processes that will meet the needs of the various practice areas.
  • Prepare written evaluations on the advantages and disadvantages of tested software.
  • Participate in IT projects.
  • Instruct the Application Trainers on the use of the new software, the development of training programs and documentation relating to new applications.
  • Schedule and issue advisories of system maintenance periods in a manner that permits sufficient notice to be given to the user community.
  • Maintain technical support relationships with software vendors to ensure services are provided effectively.
  • Keep up to date with changing technologies and the benefits and advantages they may offer.
  • Any other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • College Diploma in Computer Science.
  • Four years directly relevant experience.
  • Proven experience administering Microsoft 365, including SharePoint Online (Modern Sites, Document Libraries), Microsoft Teams, M365 Groups, roles, and permissions model. Exposure to Power Platform administration is also essential. Familiarity with a Document Management Systems (DMS) other than SharePoint Online is desirable.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with other Firm members, with the aptitude to take care of clients’ needs in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Capacity to work independently, as well as in a team environment.
  • Solid background in the use and support of standard business applications, specifically in the legal environment.
  • Produce a high quality and quantity of work product, occasionally under tight timelines.
  • Able to prioritize and to redefine priorities when necessary.
  • Handle stress in a business-like manner.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Configuration management and query software.
  • Bilingualism (French / English) an asset.

    The starting range for this role is $55,000 to $80,000. Starting salary will be determined based on an applicant’s individual skills, competencies and unique qualifications. Gowling WLG employees have the potential to exceed this range based on tenure and performance.
