Our client is one of the UK’s leading waste and resource management companies, with over 200 facilities and 4,200 employees across the UK.

A vacancy currently exists for an Enhanced Technician to take responsibility for ensuring the health, safety and wellbeing of all operational staff, contractors and visitors at the company’s Energy from Waste Facility in Kent. Reporting directly to the Shift Manager, you will facilitate daily operational activities, operate plant equipment from the Distributed Control System and carry out on-site operational tasks efficiently. You will also support operational improvements to enhance facility performance while liaising with the Maintenance, Cleaning and I/O teams.

This is a full-time position, working a shift pattern 40 hours per week.

  • Ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental policies
  • Operating plant equipment safely and efficiently
  • Monitoring and maintaining compliance with environmental permits
  • Carrying out risk assessments and operational procedures
  • Supporting operational improvements and performance enhancements
  • Administering safe systems of work and coordinating contractor activities
  • Participating in health and safety inspections and workplace investigations
  • Managing consumable materials and operational strategies
  • Performing first aid and acting as a Fire Marshal in emergency situations

Candidate requirements:

  • Must be fully authorised to operate an EFW facility or working towards.
  • Authorised to administer Safety Rules to SAP level 2 or working towards.
  • Broad technical background in either plant operations or maintenance.
  • Preferably three years (3) experience, including practical and supervisory experience with large boilers and rotating plant.
  • Experienced working in small teams.
  • Demonstrate understanding of the Environment Permit and emissions limits.
  • Experience in managing the procurement of goods and services.
  • Development and implementation of operational procedures and risk assessments.
  • Proven ability to select and build strong teams while demonstrating strong leadership and skilled in delivering measurable results through others.
  • Experience of setting personnel objectives and targets.
  • Experienced Safety Rules Outage management.
