Job description

Part-Time and Full-Time English & Math Teacher / Tutor Wanted

Passionate about puns and eager to help students succeed in English? Gain valuable teaching experience! Oxford Learning New Westminster is currently seeking part-time teacher-tutors for our learning centre. This role is ideal for those who love working with students, enjoy teaching language, and are passionate about helping others develop their skills.

Teacher-Tutors at Oxford Learning do not need to prepare lesson plans, as all lessons are pre-planned. Applicants will receive full training in our proprietary teaching philosophy and methods.

Position Requirements :

All Teacher-Tutors work during after-school and evening hours (3:00 pm - 8:00 pm) and some weekends. Reliability is essential as you will be working directly with students who enjoy working with you.

This position is in-person; applicants must be able to commute to the location. No online or remote work is available, and no relocation package is offered. Vulnerable sector screening is mandatory.

We encourage applicants who meet most of the following requirements:

Education :

  • Bachelor's degree or similar certification in a relevant field
  • Fourth-year university students with extensive tutoring experience will be considered
  • Teaching certification is an asset
  • Good knowledge of current Grade 1 to Grade 12 curriculum

Experience :

  • Some experience teaching or tutoring at Grade 1 to Grade 12 (or equivalent) level
  • Strong English written and oral communication skills, with the ability to guide student understanding
  • Ability to multitask and work with up to three students simultaneously

Responsibilities (Position Details):

You will work directly with students as an Interactive Coach with responsibilities including:

  • Teaching up to 3 students at different levels
  • Teaching both online and in-person
  • Following Oxford Learning methodologies and philosophies
  • Filling in post-lesson notes
  • Completing daily student communication updates
  • Maintaining a friendly and professional demeanor at all times
