Description of Duties:

A & O Senior Immigrant Settlement Services requires culturally sensitive volunteers who enjoy working with older adults in our English Language Program for Seniors (ELP) Classroom. The volunteer:

  • Helps students with classroom activities, including small group work and other learning activities.
  • Assists the classroom teacher by working one-on-one or with small groups of students as assigned.
Skills Required:
  • Culturally sensitive
  • Interest in working with people from different cultures and with older adults
  • Leadership skills and experience in facilitating groups
  • Friendly and welcoming manner
  • Excellent English communication skills
  • Dedicated, reliable, and patient
  • Willing to accept direction and supervision from staff

  • EAL teacher

Age: 18-30, 31-54, 55+

Time Commitment: Daytime, minimum of two hours per week.

Location of volunteer opportunity: Winnipeg - Downtown
