English Language Learning (ELL)

The Richmond School District operates 38 elementary schools, 10 secondary schools, alternative programs, continuing education, and additional facilities. The district enrolls approximately 22,000 students (K-12) and employs over 3,500 dedicated staff.

The Richmond School District is accepting applications for qualified elementary and secondary teachers in English Language Learning (ELL).

All applicants must meet the following qualifications for ELL teaching:

  1. Successful completion of a Bachelor of Education;
  2. Recent contract teaching experience and/or recent student teaching experience;
  3. Certification or eligibility for certification with the Ministry of Education - Teacher Regulation Branch;
  4. Registration with Teacher Qualification Service (TQS).

Required ELL Qualifications (Elementary and Secondary) include:

Completed or in progress of completing:

  1. TESL training through a recognized university, or
  2. Queen's University Post Graduate Certificate in Teaching English as a Second Language in BC, or
  3. Relevant coursework at UBC (LLED 478C, or 478A and 478B AND 489C, or 489A and 489B);
  4. Equivalent coursework from a recognized university.

Compensation: Salary according to the Teacher's Collective Agreement, with a current salary range of $59,704 to $109,520 annually, plus a comprehensive benefits package.
