The Brant Haldimand Norfolk Catholic District School Board seeks an English-as-a-Second Language Itinerant Teacher. ENGLISH-AS-A-SECOND LANGUAGE ITINERANT TEACHER
1.0 FTE (1 POSITION)
Term Position: 1, 2025 - End Date Unknown – subject to annual budget approval and/or annual system organization and Ministry funding continuance.
Position Summary
The English-as-a-Second Language (ESL) Teacher will be responsible to the Superintendent of Education (Curriculum) and will provide support for English Language learners from Kindergarten as required.
The ESL Teacher must be willing to travel to locations throughout Brant, Haldimand, and Norfolk Counties.
Qualifications
Basic:
Additional: Specialist – English-As-A-Second Language (preferred)
Experience: Minimum of five (5) years teaching in the elementary/secondary panel
Other:
Applicants who can become qualified prior to the start of the assignment shall be considered.
Duties And Responsibilities
The ESL Teacher will assist with the implementation of ESL Ministry documents and policies in consultation with teachers and administrators, identify students in need of ESL support, plan and implement programs for students, provide ongoing assessment and evaluation of students’ acquisition of English, and report on student progress. They will also implement Board procedures related to the referral process for English Language Learners (ELL), collaborate with school staff to adapt resource materials for ELL students, and work to find effective ways to support their language development.
