Job description
Overview

The Greater Essex County District School Board invites applications from TESL Ontario Accredited ESL Instructors, who are interested in serving as part of the Continuing Education Program of the Greater Essex County District School Board.

Position

English as a Second Language (ESL) & Literacy and Basic Skills (LBS) Instructors - Evening Instructors / Supply Pool which includes mornings, afternoon and evening sessions.

Start date & Location

START DATE: Effective immediately

LOCATION(S): Mason Educational Centre (Windsor site) or Leamington Assessment Centre (County site)

Hours

HOURS: 6:45pm to 9:25pm two nights per week (Monday & Wednesday or Tuesday & Thursday)

Rate of pay

RATE OF PAY: LBS and ESL Instructors hourly rate of pay is $45.15, plus vacation (9%) and statutory holiday (3.5%).

Nature & Scope Of Position
  • Fall under the O.S.S.T.F. – Continuing Education collective agreement.
  • Demonstrate strong collaborative, presentation, written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to and documented success in working to create a fair, inclusive, antiracist environment for all stakeholders, and to supporting diverse constituencies and populations.
Qualifications
  • Must possess a valid Ontario Teacher's Certificate in order to be eligible for consideration;
  • Hold a valid TESL Ontario Accreditation (or attain the accreditation within 12 months of hiring);
  • Job may require transportation to Windsor and Leamington, Ontario;
  • Previous experience teaching LBS and/or ESL would be considered an asset;
  • Experience working with adult students would be an asset.
  • Current satisfactory police clearance with a vulnerable sector check (dated within six months) is required.
