Job summary

Oakville Hydro is seeking an Engineering Technologist to design and plan electrical distribution projects in Oakville, Ontario. You will prepare bills of materials, estimates, and job instructions for overhead and underground systems, streetlights, and new service designs for residential, commercial, and industrial customers.

Qualifications

• Completion of a 3-year Engineering Technology Diploma or a 4-year Engineering Degree from a recognized post-secondary institution.
• Registered as a CET with OCETT or licensed PE with PEO (or eligible for registration).
• 3+ years of overhead and underground distribution design, planning, budgeting, and contract administration.
• Strong knowledge of design work and project management.
• Knowledge of electrical theory, power system operations, and installation standards.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and related software.
• Valid Ontario G-class driver's licence with a clean record.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, estimate, and plan jobs including bills of materials and project instructions.
• Prepare and oversee overhead and underground construction contracts.
• Assist in capital budget proposals.
• Prepare technical reports including voltage drop, fault current analysis, and power quality analysis.
• Assist with design clarifications or recommendations.
• Consult with customers and stakeholders and incorporate feedback into planning.
• Maintain records and liaise with municipal bodies for permits and approvals.
• Review third-party permits and plant design/construction.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
