Job summary

Utilities Kingston seeks an Engineering Technologist (Electrical) to prepare designs, plans and estimates for electric distribution projects in Kingston, Ontario. You will manage new customer connections for residential, commercial and industrial sectors, and support DER/EVSE applications for a safe, reliable grid.

This permanent full-time role requires CET designation within 3 years, 3+ years of distribution experience, and strong AutoCAD/SPIDAcalc skills.

Qualifications

• 3-year Engineering Technology diploma or 4-year Engineering Degree, preferably electrical.
• Registered CET or plan to acquire CET within 3 years of hire.
• 3+ years relevant experience in distribution system design; CET designation can be substituted by experience.
• Certified Asset Management Professional (CAMP) or Project Management Professional (PMP) is an asset.
• Class G driver's licence.

Responsibilities

• Review development proposals and site plan applications and provide information about connection requirements.
• Plan, estimate, document and design expansion and asset replacement construction projects for distribution system.
• Prepare technical reports including voltage drop calculations, pole loading analysis, line tensions, and cable pulling calculations.
• Develop estimates and drawings; input for project budgets and staging.
• Inspect assets and ensure standards; on-site contract administrator role.
