Job Summary:

To perform investigations, surveys, and analysis related to programs and projects of the City's facilities, infrastructure, and moveable assets.

Major Responsibilities:
  • Investigate, research, and conduct studies.
  • Collect and analyze data and prepare reports.
  • Respond to complaints and inquiries related to construction activity, by-law interpretation, property lines, encroachments, digital CADD, and processes, under the direction of the Engineering Technologist Technician 1.
  • Prepare sketches, technical designs, and elevations. Read and interpret technical drawings.
  • Transform information from plans into digital data. Maintain and update data.
  • Perform and review research and calculations, analyze technical data.
  • Conduct Title Searches to support depositing plans into Land Registry for the Capital Delivery program.
  • Prepare Street Naming and renaming Reports and gather information for submission to Community Council.
  • Respond to complaints and inquiries.
Key Qualifications:

Your application must describe your qualifications as they relate to:

  • Post-secondary education in Surveying or Civil Engineering Technology or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience interpreting and reading legal survey plans and various legal documents.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access).
  • Experience in preparing reports for stakeholders such as colleagues, the public, and Councillors.

You must also have:

  • Knowledge of maintaining property records within an automated environment.
  • Knowledge of conducting title searches/retrieving information from the Land Registry Office system.
  • Extensive knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act regulations, statutes, standards, and practices.
  • Ability to work effectively with various stakeholders, including consultants, contractors, councillors, colleagues, and the public.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to plan, prioritize, organize, and work independently.
  • Problem-solving skills, project coordination, and independent judgment in technical matters.
