The City of Delta is looking for a full-time Development Engineering Technologist to join our Development Department. As a member of our team, you will be responsible for providing infrastructure requirements for all types of land development applications, ensuring compliance with plans and related specifications. Reporting to the Manager of Development Engineering, you will prepare infrastructure requirements in the form of reports and memos, interpret infrastructure reports prepared by outside agencies, highway use agreements, servicing agreements, review specifications, construction estimates, contract documents, and other related data and working drawings. Additionally, you will be responsible for providing design-related direction to external Engineering Consultant firms for similar infrastructure projects. As Project Manager, you will monitor the construction of infrastructure projects to ensure compliance with plans and related specifications, schedules, and securities, both personally and through engineering inspection staff or a Consultant. You will also be a key liaison, providing project information, assistance, and direction to a wide variety of internal and external contacts.

The ideal candidate for this job will have the have the following:
  • A diploma in Civil Engineering Technology;
  • Three (3) or more years of experience in municipal infrastructure design & drafting, construction, and inspection (two (2) or more years of local experience is an asset);
  • Knowledge of common engineering design and construction practices including engineering software (ie Auto CAD);
  • Strong engineering analytical skills;
  • Strong interpersonal skills;
  • Experience with or knowledge of Construction Contract Documents,
  • Experience with asset management systems, and Tempest software preferred.
Requirements
  • A valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License
  • Registered OR eligible for registration with the Applied Science Technologists and Technicians of BC (ASTTBC) as an Applied Science Technologist (AScT) or Technician (CTech).
