The successful candidates will be exposed to many practical construction functions during their work term. We are looking for students available for 4, 8 or 12-month terms starting in September 2025.

Here's how a(n)Engineering/Technical Studentfor our Edmonton Buildingsoffice contributes to our team:

Responsibilities

Field Student

• Report deficiencies by going on various site visits
• Monitor and coordinate trade scopes of work
• Coordinate and update field drawings, specifications, and project schedules
• Participate in project meetings and get a chance to be part of something bigger by working closely with seasoned project professionals
• Conduct trade contractor quote reviews
• Get to visit some of our impressive projects and job sites while taking progress photos and monitoring deficiency logs knowing that you helped build that
• Be responsible for performing bid day assignments and overall bid document control. Everyone at PCL takes ownership and that includes students.
• Assistance with on-site problem solving

Quality Student

• Provide input into the overall Quality Management Program
• Assist in developing the project specific Quality Management System
• Review drawings and specifications
• Develop the Inspection and Testing Plan (ITP) with the project team
• Develop scope specific quality control checklists
• Carry out site visits to monitor execution of the Quality Management System
• Maintenance of drawing status, preparation of project work plans, pricing of change orders
• Coordination of sub trades on job sites
• Preparation of input for PCL's reporting and cost control systems.
  

Qualifications

• Candidates must have a strong desire to work in a construction environment and prior field construction experience will be considered an asset.
• Application of various computer software programs will be required, including word processing, spreadsheet applications and drafting.
• Knowledge of Revit, AutoCAD, and Sketchup will be considered an asset.
• Access to a clean, reliable vehicle
