In this role, you will manage the team responsible for software that manages access to all professional Ubuntu offerings, which runs on every major release of Ubuntu and is regularly updated across all of them. Your team owns continuous integration and verification across releases and platforms, influencing the product's evolution and coordinating new features and integrations with various teams and partners.

What you'll do

• Build and lead a globally distributed team of engineers
• Develop talent through coaching, mentoring, feedback, and career development
• Work with Product Management to define vision and strategy for Ubuntu and your team
• Manage expectations with engineering teams, senior management, and external stakeholders
• Promote modern, agile software development practices
• Develop and evangelize engineering and organizational practices
• Foster a healthy, collaborative engineering culture aligned with company values
• Participate in leadership activities and collaborate with other leaders
• Engage in engineering processes through code and architectural reviews
• Collaborate with teams at Canonical, the open source community, and partners
• Oversee quality of the Ubuntu Server image family
• Plan and deliver Ubuntu Server features
• Work from home with global travel up to 6 weeks per year for events

Who you are

• You have a passion for developing and growing people, with a strong track record
• You are knowledgeable and passionate about software development
• You have 3+ years of experience leading, managing, coaching, and mentoring software developers; experience managing distributed teams is a plus
• You focus on success and delivering high-quality, timely software
• You have experience in an agile development environment
• You hold a Bachelor's or equivalent in Computer Science, STEM, or similar
• You possess strong written and verbal technical communication skills in English
• You have experience with a modern GNU/Linux distribution, preferably Debian or Ubuntu
• You have practical experience with at least one cloud platform: Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, or Amazon Web Services
