Cloud-init supports various distributions and platforms, providing opportunities to work with:

  • Cloud providers to add features, improve efficiency, and integrate
  • The cloud-init community, from individual users to major companies
  • Distributions to update builds and coordinate needs

You will own the product, influencing its evolution and collaborating with many teams and partners on new features, enhancements, and integrations.

What you'll do
  1. Build and lead a globally distributed team of engineers
  2. Develop talent through coaching, mentoring, feedback, and career development
  3. Work with Product Management to define vision and strategy
  4. Manage expectations with engineering teams, management, and external stakeholders
  5. Promote modern, agile software development practices
  6. Develop and evangelize engineering and organizational practices
  7. Foster a healthy, collaborative engineering culture
  8. Participate in leadership and collaborate across the organization
  9. Engage in engineering processes through code and architecture reviews
  10. Engage with Canonical teams, open source community, and partners
  11. Oversee quality of Ubuntu Server image family
  12. Plan and deliver Ubuntu Server features
  13. Work from home with up to 6 weeks of global travel annually
Who you are
  1. You love developing and growing people with a proven track record
  2. You are passionate about software development
  3. You have 3+ years of leading, managing, coaching, and mentoring software developers; experience with distributed teams is a plus
  4. You focus on success and delivering high-quality software on time
  5. You have experience in agile environments
  6. You hold a Bachelor's or equivalent in Computer Science, STEM, or similar
  7. You possess strong written and verbal technical communication skills in English
  8. You have experience with modern GNU/Linux distributions, preferably Debian or Ubuntu
  9. You have practical experience with at least one of Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, or AWS
