Job summary

OpenTable in Toronto, Canada is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead the Serving Platforms team of 10 engineers. You will oversee runtime foundations across Kubernetes, service mesh, Vault, and Kafka, balancing technical leadership with people leadership and operational execution.

You will shape priorities, ensure day-to-day execution aligns with business goals, mentor engineers, and collaborate with Infrastructure Engineering and partner teams to drive reliability and scale in a globally

Qualifications

• 5+ years leading infrastructure, platform, SRE, or systems teams across multi-team initiatives.
• Experience planning and coordinating parallel engineering work with delivery and health focus.
• Hands-on Linux sysadmin experience; scripting in Python, Go, or Bash.
• Excellent communication; ability to align technical and non-technical audiences.
• Preferred: Kubernetes, service mesh, secrets management, event streaming experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coach a globally distributed team of 10 engineers with clear feedback.
• Shape quarterly priorities and coordinate work across streams.
• Represent Serving Platforms and drive cross-functional decisions.
• Support greenfield and legacy platform systems; participate in on-call rotation.
• Identify risks early and communicate trade-offs to leadership.
