The Role

We are hiring an Engineering Manager to lead a team working closely with cloud partners like Amazon, Microsoft, and Google to optimize Ubuntu for their infrastructure. Your team will build, test, and publish Ubuntu images used globally, ensuring performance and security. You will oversee technical leadership, team growth, and partner engagement, focusing on automating image delivery for various workloads including web servers and AI applications.

Responsibilities

  1. Build and lead a team of engineers across timezones.
  2. Mentor and develop team members through coaching and feedback.
  3. Demonstrate engineering excellence and contribute to team goals.
  4. Manage expectations with stakeholders and other teams.
  5. Lead agile software development practices.
  6. Foster a healthy, collaborative engineering culture.
  7. Participate in leadership and strategic planning.
  8. Build reliable pipelines for image delivery, testing, and publication.
  9. Engage with internal teams, open source communities, and partners.
  10. Work remotely with up to 15% travel for events.

Qualifications

  • Passion for mentoring and developing people.
  • Strong software development background, especially in Python and Golang.
  • Experience with cloud platforms like AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure.
  • Excellent communication skills.
