Position Overview:

Zynga is looking for an Engineering Manager to join our Game of Thrones: Legends team in the Eugene, Austin or Toronto areas, and more specifically, someone whose experience can allow them to both manage engineers as a lead, as well as execute on code reviews and architecture planning. We have a well-rounded, and tight-knit, distributed team with a healthy mix of engineering skill levels, and are looking to strengthen our team in tackling the challenges of running and extending a Live game.

The optimal candidate should have equivalent or better experience as a Senior Software Engineer 2, and should have at least four years of experience as an Engineering Manager. Ideally, the candidate will also have at least eight years of experience working on teams in the game industry.

To be successful in this role you will have a passion for games, outstanding process skills, awesome people skills, a high level of integrity, great technical depth, and a strong desire to build successful engineering teams. You would have an opportunity to lead a pod of engineers on the team, while also contributing to user-facing live operations work.

What You'll Do:
  • Manage multiple engineers on the team on a daily basis, both in their tasks as well as morale, career growth and future planning
  • Help to define and scope out tasks, systems, and timelines
  • Help to review and contribute to engineering architectures
  • Help to monitor and improve engineering process
  • Help manage release cycles and branch strategy
What You Bring:
  • 4+ Years experience as an Engineering Manager
  • 8+ Years industry experience as a Software Engineer
  • Good working knowledge in Unity & C#
  • Solid foundation in data structures, algorithms and software methodologies
  • Prior game development experience (on shipped titles or live games experience)
  • Excellent communication skills and comfort working in a collaborative environment
  • Ability to build, manage, mentor and lead multiple teams of engineers.
  • Able to work collaboratively with engineering stakeholders including design, user experience, product and analytics teams.
Bonus Points:
  • Experience with git
  • Mobile development experience with a focus on iOS and/or Android
  • Server experience is a plus; for example, web service integration, application server performance, relational databases or data analytics.
  • Experience with AWS and Amazon hosting services
  • Strives for perfection in the development process including planning, time and quality estimation, problem solving, and communicating development status.
  • Updates knowledge constantly. Always learning and seeking to learn

The pay range for this position in California at the start of employment is expected to be between $123,500 and $182,780 per year.

However, base pay offered is based on market location, and may vary further depending on individualized factors for job candidates, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to those same considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a bonus and/or equity awards, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an "at-will position" and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
