Canonical is seeking an experienced engineering manager to build high-performing Go and Python services and secure identity and access management solutions used across all company products. Your team will define how Canonical users, clients, and community members access their favorite open source applications, from Ubuntu One SSO to Juju, LXD, and MAAS.
This role offers an opportunity for a software engineering manager passionate about distributed systems operations to help transform the future of identity management at Canonical. Experience in IAM is desirable but not mandatory. You will collaborate with upstream open source projects and internal teams to deliver high-quality software deployable on bare metal, public cloud, and Kubernetes.
As the engineering manager for the identity team, you will bring significant software development experience, Kubernetes knowledge, and a keen eye for software design, performance, and security. Responsibilities include defining the technical vision, managing the team backlog, reviewing code, coaching team members, designing software, writing high-quality code and tests, providing code reviews, writing documentation, and troubleshooting issues.
You will also work with industry-leading teams within Canonical, ensuring your work is supported by robust data stores and highly observable through our Kubernetes-based Observability stack. Additionally, you will engage with broader open source communities through hackfests, webinars, and conferences.
