Engineering Manager Equipment – Technical

Location: Mississauga, ON

The Equipment Technical Manager is a key member of the Project Management Team (PMT) on the C3/4 Project. This role involves guiding a team of Equipment engineers and designers, overseeing the execution of design and technical activities in a project delivery environment, ensuring compliance with industry standards and governance. The Technical Manager reports to the project Engineering Director.

Your role within the team:

As Equipment Manager, your responsibilities include:

  1. Removing barriers impacting deliverables, working with staff to find optimal solutions.
  2. Ensuring work complies with Engineering and Quality Assurance procedures, statutory requirements, and safety and quality best practices.
  3. Preparing equipment specifications and engineering service scopes of work promptly.
  4. Approving equipment and service requisitions prepared by the engineering team, such as EQRs and CMMS Express requisitions.
  5. Reviewing vendor bid technical packages and vendor document acceptance by engineering.
  6. Fostering a positive team environment and building collaboration among Engineering, Procurement, Project Management, Project Controls, and internal and external customers.
  7. Interfacing with project partners to receive design documentation, raise requisitions, and facilitate technical information exchange to ensure timely manufacturing aligned with installation schedules.
  8. Planning and executing work in line with quality, cost, and schedule requirements.
  9. Forecasting resource needs, including skills, capabilities, and durations.
  10. Overseeing the requisition and manufacturing of equipment in accordance with contracts, customer specifications, and technical standards.
  11. Managing interfaces between engineering disciplines and procurement.
  12. Ensuring final deliverables meet customer requirements, nuclear codes, and standards.
  13. Working with marketing and other corporate groups to maintain and improve client relationships.
  14. Proposing improvements proactively and in response to customer needs.

The ideal candidate:

  • Engineering degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Civil, or Electrical from an accredited university.
  • Registered Professional Engineer in a Canadian Province.
  • Experience working in a licensed Canadian nuclear facility.
  • Qualifications in nuclear station design/engineering.
  • Knowledge of nuclear regulatory frameworks.
  • At least 10 years of design, equipment selection, and manufacturing oversight experience in heavy industry projects.
  • Minimum 5 years leading engineering teams.
  • At least 5 years of nuclear or CANDU technology experience.
  • Experience managing multidisciplinary work with stakeholder engagement.
  • Experience with nuclear quality management systems like CSA N286, CSA N299.
  • Knowledge of nuclear and industry codes such as CSA N285, ASME, B31.1.
  • Experience with projects subject to import/export controls.
  • Strong business acumen.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Other requirements:
    • Security clearance is mandatory.
    • Willingness to travel and work at project sites as needed.
