Job Overview

The Engineering Manager is responsible for leading program launches, overseeing manufacturing and process engineering, and driving continuous improvement initiatives to achieve production, quality, and budget goals. This role involves managing cross-functional teams, fostering collaboration, and implementing innovative solutions to enhance productivity, quality, and operational efficiency within the plant.

Main Duties :

  • Lead the Program & Engineering team, including program managers and manufacturing engineers, to oversee daily program management, manufacturing, process, quality, and logistics planning activities.
  • Plan, staff, and supervise program teams to ensure successful new product launches, including process development, supplier management, equipment and tooling planning, floor layout, lean manufacturing implementation, customer approvals, and initial production planning.
  • Strategize, implement, and maintain program initiatives aligned with organizational objectives using disciplined program management methodologies.
  • Develop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing processes to optimize productivity, quality, and cost efficiency.
  • Collaborate with the Production Team to lead continuous improvement initiatives, including :
  • Reducing headcount and manufacturing overhead.
  • Implementing lean manufacturing solutions, such as automation and process flexibility.
  • Decreasing scrap rates and improving first-time quality.
  • Enhancing supply chain efficiency, logistics, and inventory turns.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for resolving critical internal and external escalations.
  • Develop actionable solutions for "red issues" and communicate plans effectively to executive management.
  • Oversee the selection, acquisition, and maintenance of manufacturing equipment to support operational goals.
  • Make technical decisions regarding equipment purchases and ensure minimal downtime through effective maintenance planning.
  • Partner with the Quality Assurance team to ensure manufacturing processes meet or exceed industry standards and customer specifications.
  • Apply lean manufacturing principles to eliminate waste, reduce variability, and drive sustainable improvements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
  • 10+ years of manufacturing engineering experience, ideally in automotive.
  • Skilled in program management, including timelines, issue tracking, and launches.
  • Deep knowledge of manufacturing processes, equipment, and technologies.
  • Proficient in lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies.
  • Open to travel for site support or technology evaluations.
  • Flexible to resolve urgent production issues or meet deadlines after hours.
