OUR CLIENT, WADE ANTENNA, IS LOOKING FOR AN EXPERIENCED ENGINEERING MANAGER

As leaders in the development and manufacturing of high-quality communication antennas, WADE Antenna’s products are used by military organizations, defence contractors, and commercial aviation systems worldwide.

With customers including DND, Canadian Defence, and NATO, we are perfectly positioned to be a part of changing the landscape of the Canadian defense strategy.

We are looking for a visionary Engineering Manager to lead a team of engineers and technicians as they develop, test, and create solutions to technical problems and be a constructive member of the management team.

Reporting to the General Manager, you bring hands on experience, creative out of the box problem solving, and excellent people skills.

Here is what you will be responsible for:

  • Managing and working with the engineering team including hiring, training, leading, mentoring and supporting personal development
  • Overseeing and managing research and development, product and process improvement projects and preparing detailed information for SR&ED, while coordinating with management and other departments
  • Together with the management team, spearhead our ISO initiative for the engineering discipline
  • Ensuring the department adheres to standard engineering practices
  • Reviewing/approving company/customer drawings, specifications and procedures
  • Creating detailed project specifications and timelines to accomplish realistic goals
  • Preparing budgets, approve expenditures and control costs for the department
  • Maintaining and verifying up-to-date compliance with all relevant standards and regulations (MIL-STD, RoHS, REACH, CMRT, CSA, etc.), ensuring they are appropriately documented, tracking, and contractual enforcement across all projects and suppliers
  • Working closely with Sales in developing overall requirements for new products and developing attainable results from prototyping through final release
  • Establishing administrative policies, procedures, and standards for the engineering group
  • Coordinating activities with executive and management team to align with company strategies and long‑term goals to achieve growth and expansion

Here is what you bring:

  • P.Eng. preferred but will accept other qualifying certifications
  • Minimum 7-10 years of engineering experience in a manufacturing setting
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in RF engineering preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of management and supervisory experience
  • Yellow or Green belt in Lean Manufacturing is an asset
  • Proven ability to solve structural problems such as moments, material stress, and loading
  • Proven experience with electrical systems and industrial automation
  • Experience with 2D & 3D drawing using Autodesk Inventor
  • Experience with technical drawing requirements such as Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing, ASME Y14 and 3D modeling techniques
  • In depth experience in standard engineering processes such as Engineering Change Orders and Deviations
  • Proven ability to lead projects and deliver results with documented data and metrics
  • Experience in manufacturing techniques, processes and practical implementation
