Job description

Location: Montreal (Office attendance from day one - Hybrid Mode 3x per week)

As a Database Engineer, you will be a member of the LCG Technology Controls Management development team, focusing on sourcing data and developing data solutions for Technology Risk functions.

Your primary responsibilities include developing data workflows, views, and stored procedures, performing data analysis, and monitoring and tuning queries and data loads. You will collaborate closely with data providers, data scientists, data developers, and analytics teams to implement client-specific business requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop stored procedures, triggers, and views on our DB2-based Data Warehouse.
  2. Perform data profiling and analysis on source system data to ensure proper integration and representation in models.
  3. Monitor and tune query and data load performance.
  4. Assist during QA & UAT phases to validate issues, identify root causes, and determine resolutions.

Skills / Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in data development in complex data environments with large data volumes.
  • 5+ years of experience with data workflows in Informatica and/or Talend.
  • 5+ years of SQL/PLSQL experience, including writing complex queries and developing stored procedures, triggers, MQTs, and views on IBM DB2.
  • Experience with scripting in Perl and Python.
  • Experience with Autosys and/or Airflow.
  • Hadoop experience is a plus.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Experience with Waterfall and Agile methodologies.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration across teams and regions.
  • Self-starter with the ability to manage multiple projects with minimal supervision.
  • Strong problem-solving skills to clarify objectives and resolve conflicts.
