Join a purpose driven winning team, committed to results, in an inclusive and high-performing culture.

The Team

Scotiabank continues to be an industry leader for Payments technology and innovation. We have a history of safely leveraging new tools to enable new experiences for our customers, focusing on ensuring we protect their interests and goals. The result of this leads to modernization programs which aim to offer enriched information and transparencies to support the rapidly evolving payments community. This position requires a leader to manage development teams, technical deliverables, and stakeholder relationships; however, the incumbent must be well-rounded to express empathy to ensure we lead with a mindset to understand and drive value for our customers.

Is this role right for you?

  • Be at the forefront of technology and enable your team to be a highly functioning technology powerhouse that enables transformation.
  • Actively partner internally with other Engineering Leads and Scrum Masters to ensure logistics, scope, and delivery are shared, with successes and lessons learned appropriately integrated.
  • Define success metrics at the portfolio, application, and team levels by leveraging agile practices.
  • Be responsible for implementation of strategy including high level planning of work and people across multi-year timeframe, with clear milestone value deliveries.
  • Identify and manage risks versus opportunities and articulate how that impacts value and goals against the portfolio.
  • Drive external partnerships with key stakeholders (business, technology, finance, security, risk, and more).
  • Serve as a steward of team culture, environment, and engineering practices.
  • Be comfortable to both encourage and challenge others to align behaviours towards our mindset.
  • Influence, question, and evaluate processes to determine opportunities for effectiveness.
  • Embrace and initiate change for continuous improvement.
  • Provide thought leadership, innovative ideas, and drive toward partnership at the table for program strategy.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role?

  • Desire and drive for innovation through problem solving, leveraging resourcefulness as a key skill; have a learning mindset while intrinsically motivated to learning new tools and techniques.
  • Experience leading and motivating teams – this will be a mix of direct reports, peers, and key partners to enable successful outcomes; command presence, and be able to influence others.
  • Technical understanding – as an Engineering Lead there will be expectations that you are able to lead technical discussions, challenge design and strategy (examples: cloud platforms, microservices, data transformation, process and quality automation).
  • Be comfortable with continuously changing environments (examples: business priorities, new technologies).
  • Exhibit a high degree of understanding risk management; passion for your craft should also lead to expectations in quality, what is best in the interest of progress, and ability to communicate decisions and value in justification.
  • Leverage and understand the use of analytics to enable day-to-day conversations and decision making.

What's in it for you?

  • Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Allyship - We strive to create an inclusive culture where every employee is empowered to reach their fullest potential, respected for who they are, and are embraced through bias-free practices and inclusive values across Scotiabank.
  • Accessibility and Workplace Accommodations - We value the unique skills and experiences each individual brings to the Bank, and are committed to creating and maintaining an inclusive and accessible environment for everyone.
  • Upskilling through online courses, cross-functional development opportunities, and tuition assistance.
  • Competitive Rewards program including bonus, flexible vacation, personal, sick days and benefits will start on day one.
  • Community Engagement - no matter where you choose to work from; we offer opportunities for community engagement & belonging with our various programs such as hackathons, contests, cooking with friends, Humans of Digital and much more!
