Job Description
Are you driven by efficiency? Do you like helping others improve how they work? We currently have an opportunity for an intermediate to working level Engineering Improvement Specialist (with either a Systems Engineering or Software Development background) on our Engineering Infrastructure Services (EIS) Team. The mission of the EIS Team is to enable programs across the organization to launch faster, execute more efficiently, and continually integrate new tools, practices and training into our development environment.
If you were in the role today, here is what you could be working on:
- Collecting and analyzing data: gather and analyze data, performance metrics and key performance indicators to quantify process inefficiencies and track improvements over time.
- Developing code and scripts to automate the gathering and movement of data for review and synthesis, perform metrics analysis and present this information to interested parties.
- Working in Microsoft’s PowerBI software to generate visualizations to help engineering answer complex questions.
- Collaborating with teams to understand friction points and propose practical solutions, including process interpretation redesign and automation options.
- Facilitating change management efforts by communicating proposed improvements, obtaining buy-in from stakeholders and ensuring successful implementation.
- Develop training materials to support the effective adoption of new tools and processes by teams.
Qualifications
You will be successful in this role if you describe yourself as having:
- 2+ years of applicable experience
- Disciplined approach to engineering, with knowledge of agile and/or iterative development methods.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong problem solving and analysis skills.
- Strong attention to detail and a natural interest in root cause analysis.
- Enthusiastic contributor, willing to learn new skills, and takes pride and ownership of work.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment, with minimal supervision.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical/scientific area. Candidates with diplomas will be considered with adequate additional experience.
Security
- Must be able to obtain and maintain Canadian Security Clearance and a positive Controlled Goods Assessment. Eligibility to work in Canada either as a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident.
- Applicants may be required to meet additional security requirements in order to gain access to technical data, classified areas or information that is subject to international regulations.
