A leading automotive company is seeking an Engineering Group Manager to lead a team within the Vehicle Mechatronic Embedded Controls department. This position involves strategic planning, team management, and promoting agile practices to ensure high-quality product releases for trucks and electric vehicles. Hybrid: This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Markham three times per week, at minimum.
The Role:
Our Vehicle Mechatronic Embedded Controls (VMEC) team within GM’s Software and Services organization develops, deploys, and releases control software and calibrations for vehicle systems, including internal combustion engines, hybridized drive units & transmissions, high voltage batteries, and chassis & thermal management. The role involves inventing new control methods for mechatronic systems.
We have opportunities in the Chassis Controls organization within VMEC for an Engineering Group Manager. This role leads a team responsible for embedded development, control software design, deployment, system calibration, testing, and validation. The team collaborates across functions to ensure quality product releases for our truck portfolio and future electric vehicles.
This leadership position involves developing and executing strategic plans aligned with business goals, fostering an inclusive and innovative culture, and embracing agile practices to enhance team capabilities. You will provide strategic technical leadership and oversee execution, focusing on industry-leading chassis control performance to improve customer experience.
Responsibilities include staffing initiatives, conducting team meetings, communicating policies and strategies, and supporting GM’s core values and safety standards.
