A leading electronics manufacturing company is seeking an Engineering (electro-mechanical) Technician to provide support for custom equipment. The role requires an electrical engineering diploma and an active industrial electrician license, with 7-10 years of relevant experience. Responsibilities include assembling electrical systems and providing customer service, along with global travel as needed. This is a full-time position offering $35 - $45 per hour.

Purpose

Provide electrical-mechanical support for custom equipment in the manufacturing plant, including troubleshooting electrical and mechanical components in compliance with Canadian and European electrical codes.

Responsibilities
  1. Assemble and build panels, electrical or electronic systems, support structures, units, subassemblies, and casings using rivets, bolts, soldering, or micro-welding equipment, along with appropriate tools such as wire/cable strippers, ferrule/terminal/lug crimpers.
  2. Perform field wiring (integration) and mechanical assembly of machines.
  3. Adjust, repair, and troubleshoot D&V equipment; upgrade electrical systems per Canadian Electrical Code; handle power hookups, mechanical upgrades, tooling changes, and additions.
  4. Read and interpret electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic drawings, diagrams, specifications, work orders, and reports.
  5. Inspect wiring installations, assemblies, and circuits using tools like multimeters and torque drivers.
  6. Disassemble and prepare machines for shipment.
  7. Install equipment at customer sites, including reassembly, testing, troubleshooting, alignment, and providing engineering support.
  8. Provide on-site customer service, including preventive maintenance, upgrades, or addressing issues.
  9. Collaborate with engineering teams on technical issues, design, and development.
  10. Fabricate or modify parts using shop equipment with supervisor approval.
  11. Verify product descriptions, dimensions, and clearances to ensure conformance to drawings and OEM instructions, using instruments like micrometers and calipers.
  12. Conduct basic power-up and input/output checks to verify specifications.
  13. Install electrical, electronic, and pneumatic components such as disconnects, breakers, contactors, inverters, motors, drives, power supplies, relays, terminal blocks, PLCs, transformers, and sensors using appropriate tools.
  14. Represent D&V Electronics' core values and ethics on customer sites.
  15. Travel worldwide independently via all modes of transport as required.
Education and Experience
  • Electrical engineering diploma; degree preferred.
  • Active industrial electrician license (442A).
  • 7-10 years' experience in building control panels, field wiring, and machine assembly.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting control and pneumatic drawings.
  • Experience with CSA and IEC standards.
  • Skilled in using productivity tools such as wire/cable strippers, crimpers, drills, and pneumatic tools.
  • Ability to produce high-quality work and maintain good records.
  • Willingness to travel worldwide to customer locations.
  • Ability to meet deadlines under multiple demands and conflicting priorities.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, team-oriented, quick learner, self-motivated, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Flexible and willing to work after hours and on weekends.
