Job summary

R.V. Anderson Associates Limited in Barrie, Ontario, is seeking a full-time Engineering Designer to join the Bridge team. This mentored role offers growth within an established group, with opportunities to contribute to design calculations, drafting, and project coordination.

The ideal candidate holds a Civil Engineering degree, EIT eligibility, and up‑to‑date software familiarity (CSI Bridge, Midas, AutoCAD, MicroStation). Strong English communication and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized post-secondary institution is required.
• 0-3+ years of relevant experience with a focus or interest in the design of heavy civil structures is preferred.
• Registration as an Engineer-In-Training (EIT) or eligibility for registration.
• Familiarity with industry software such as CSI Bridge, Midas, AutoCAD, MicroStation, SAP2000, FB Pier, L-Pile, Conspan is a plus.
• Excellent command of the English language and ability to communicate proficiently, both verbally and in writing.
• Strong sense of initiative and ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Assist in calculations for design of bridges and draft structural plans.
• Prepare detailed design calculations and planning reports.
• Measure, assess and sketch structural layouts for bridges and transportation structures.
• Carry out condition assessments and structural inspections.

Our Bridge team is growing, and they are looking for a full-time Engineering Designer to join their team at our Barrie office. This is a mentored role with a firm target to develop the right candidate within an established group mentoring and collaborative environment.

Duties

• Assist in calculations for design of bridges, draft structural plans, assist in writing structural design reports, calculate quantities, develop cost estimates, create and manage structural details, and work in conjunction with CADD drafters to develop structural bridge drawings.
• Measure, assess and sketch structural layout and details for new and existing bridges and other transportation structures.
• Prepare detailed design calculations and planning reports.
• Carry out Condition Assessments and structural visual inspections.
• Project coordination
• Inspection and Contract Administration of structural projects, when required.
• Other tasks as assigned and appropriate for this position.

Compensation Range

The salary for this range is between $72,000.00 - $85,000.00

Compensation for this role will be determined based on a variety of factors, including relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business needs.
