Job summary

Redlen-Technologies is seeking an experienced Mechanical/Mechatronic Engineer to join the Facilities Design Engineering team. You will design jigs and fixtures for high voltage x-ray test equipment and support other production projects.

You will collaborate with internal customers and production floor, create 3D CAD models and fabrication drawings, and document designs using Redlen's processes. Experience with Solidworks, GD&T, and manufacturing environments is required.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Design jigs and fixtures for high voltage x-ray test equipment with electrical components and software control.
• Create jigs, fixtures and equipment for production environments to improve throughput and quality.
• Collaborate with internal customers and production floor to define requirements and validate designs.
• Analyze existing processes for improvements and document designs with CAD models, drawings, BOMs and schematics.
• Create 3D printed parts and CNC machined components; register drawings per internal documentation.
• Maintain thorough documentation and work within Redlen's fabrication processes.

Job description

Reporting to the Facilities Design Engineering Supervisor, the successful applicant will join a team responsible for developing engineered solutions in support of the Production and R&D departments. This position is focused on designing equipment, jigs and fixtures for high voltage x-ray test equipment and support other production projects as required.

The candidate will work closely with internal customers and on the production floor to determine requirements and design fixtures that meet the identified requirements. Redlen is transitioning towards semi/fully-automated processes, and preference will be given towards individuals with related experience.

Key responsibilities include:

• Design jigs and fixtures for high voltage x-ray test equipment that incorporates electrical components and software control.
• Design jigs and fixtures and equipment for pro production environment.
• Support sourcing or the development of equipment that minimize s operator interaction, increases throughput, improves quality, and produces repeatable results for use in a production environment.
• Analyze existing processes for improvement opportunities to aid in the design of the next generation of jigs/fixtures/tooling/equipment.
• Fully document designs e.g. generate 3D CAD models, create fab drawings and assembly drawings/instructions, BOMs, Schematics.
• Create 3D printed parts and design CNC machined parts.
• Registering fabrication and assembly drawings using Redlen's documentation process.

Experience Required:

• Minimum 5 years of relevant engineering experience, including at least 3 years in an industrial, manufacturing, or other complex operational environment.
• Experience designing jigs/fixtures in a production/manufacturing environment.
• Demonstratable experience employing minimal constraints methodology.
• Proficiency with Solidworks or similar 3D/2D CAD programs.
• Familiarity with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).

• Proficiency with MS Office programs.

Experience Preferred:

• Design for manufacturing in a high-volume manufacturer.
• Semiconductor device fabrication processes including lapping, polishing, grinding & dicing.
• Working safely in a small workshop with multiple users (e.g. keeping workspaces tidy).
• Basic electrical & control system design.
• Motion control (linear, continuous, rotary, servo & stepper motors).
