Job summary

Stantec is seeking an Engineering Co-op Student in Water for a 16-month term, based in Calgary, starting May 2027. You will join our Calgary Water team and support municipal water and wastewater projects.

You'll work with engineers and technologists, gain field experience, and contribute to planning, design, and delivery while developing practical skills and professional networks. This paid internship provides mentorship from senior leaders, exposure to North America's projects, and

Stantec Calgary's Water group is seeking a four-month summer term expected to commence in May 2027 and conclude in August 2028. Your Key Responsibilities

As part of the Calgary Water team, you will contribute to the planning, design, and delivery of municipal water and wastewater infrastructure projects. Your responsibilities will include:

• Provide general support to engineers and technologists within the Process Water group.
• Support the field construction and commissioning team on ongoing projects. This may involve:
• Monitoring and reporting on current construction activities
• Assisting the commissioning lead with startup and commissioning activities.
• Onsite document management including deficiency reviews, asset management, document review, and quality assurance.
• Utilize knowledge of the general concepts of relevant basic engineering elements.
• Generate preliminary calculations and reports.
• Review drawings and complete audits on relevant project design elements.
• Perform due diligence and research on projects as required to provide the background information to start new projects.
• Perform other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); familiarity with Access, Project, or similar tools is considered an asset.

• Attention to detail, with the ability to review own work for accuracy, completeness, and alignment with project objectives.
• Willingness to learn, ask questions, and actively contribute to problem-solving through critical and creative thinking.
• Professional, respectful, and positive communication style in both written and in-person interactions.
• Availability for a full-time 16-month internship is required.

Education and Experience

• 3rd or 4th year engineering students able to take an internship/co-op term are encouraged to apply.
• Valid driver's licence and a satisfactory driving record, with the ability to travel to project sites as required.

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

About the Team

Pay Transparency:In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
