What You’ll Do

As the Engineering Co-Op Intern, you will ensure safe, reliable, and quality technical blasting service through the effective design and appropriate use of explosives. You will use advanced blasting instrumentation and software to deliver cost-saving solutions to customers, supporting Dyno Nobel’s industry leadership and customer partnerships. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Manage individual project expenses (materials & travel).
  • Contribute to achieving team revenue goals as defined by DynoConsult P&L.
  • Assist with conducting pre-blast surveys, such as face profiles, borehole deviation measurements, blast geometry measurements, product sampling, safety audits, etc.
  • Assist with blast performance measurements, including digital high-speed video, vibration monitoring, vibration modeling, velocity of detonation, dynamic pressure, SHA, etc.
  • Learn to conduct post-blast assessments, such as fragmentation measurement, time studies, volumetric measurements, blast reporting, and documentation.
  • Conduct time studies on personnel and equipment during operations like drill and blast, truck-shovel loading, dragline, dozer assist, and crushing processes.
  • Support product management in key product application and technology initiatives aligned with business objectives.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Current student enrolled in a Mining, Civil, or Geo-technical Engineering program.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% to different Dyno Nobel and customer locations.
  • Requirement to develop an end-of-term value-added case study as a research project.
  • Bilingual in English and French is preferred but not required.
  • Positive attitude, friendly demeanor, and a team player.
