Job summary

Region of Waterloo is seeking an Engineering Intern to join a Design and Construction Engineering Progression Program with roles at three levels: Engineering Intern, Engineer, and Senior Engineer. The program emphasizes hands-on project involvement across water supply, wastewater, and transportation infrastructure in a flexible hybrid setting.

Compensation ranges from CAD 83,556 to CAD 104,431 annually, scaling with progression through the program and professional licensure with PEO.

Qualifications

• Degree in Engineering or Applied Science.
• Eligible for registration as an Engineering Intern with the PEO.
• Licensed as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) in Ontario or holding a Limited License with the PEO.

Responsibilities

• The Engineer will independently manage medium-sized projects and support senior engineers on more complex initiatives. They will be responsible for designing capital projects, managing budgets, directing technical staff, and coordinating with multiple stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.
• The Senior Engineer will independently lead high-profile, large-scale projects and will be responsible for supervising multidisciplinary teams, engaging in high-level negotiations, and resolving complex project issues.

Education

Degree in Engineering or Applied Science.

Eligible for registration as an Engineering Intern with the PEO.

Licensed as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) in Ontario or holding a Limited License with the PEO.
