At Tenstorrent, we’re building the next generation of AI/ML hardware platforms, and next generation high speed memory is a key enabler of our performance and scalability. We are looking for a GDDR7 IP Validation and Firmware Engineer to work on the validation and enablement of our next-gen GDDR7 PHY and controller IP. In this role, you will own the post-silicon validation of high-speed memory interfaces, do low-level firmware development for bring-up and diagnostics, and work closely with cross-functional teams and memory vendors to deliver robust and high-performance memory subsystems.

This role is hybrid, based out of Toronto, Canada or Santa Clara, California.

Responsibilities

• Lead post-silicon validation of GDDR7 PHY and controller IP, including bring-up, debug, and full coverage closure.
• Develop and execute validation plans based on JEDEC specs and system use cases; perform PVT testing, SI/PI margin analysis, and compliance validation.
• Design and implement firmware tools to support link training, diagnostics, and calibration flows.
• Build automated lab test infrastructure for data capture, regression, and stress testing using scripting (e.g., Python, Shell).
• Collaborate with IP vendors, DRAM partners, and internal teams on training algorithms and debug strategies.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to resolve system-level issues, support reliability validation, and enhance memory subsystem performance.
  
  

Experience & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s in Electrical or Computer Engineering with experience in high-speed memory interface validation and embedded firmware development.
• Strong programming skills in C/C++ for embedded platforms.
• Experience with memory technologies such as GDDR7, GDDR6, DDR5, LPDDR5, or HBM.
• Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Shell Scripting) for automation and lab tooling.
• Deep understanding of JEDEC memory interface standards and PHY-level training flows.
• Hands-on experience with lab tools and test equipment such as oscilloscopes, BERTs, logic analyzers, and protocol decoders.
• Proven ability to debug hardware/firmware interaction in silicon and system-level environments.
• Experience with margining, calibration, or stress-mode validation.
• Familiarity with reliability testing methodologies for memory interfaces.
• Exposure to simulation or emulation-based pre-silicon validation.
• Background working with memory vendors on compliance and feature integration.
• Exposure to low level FW development for RISC-V.
