MacDon is seeking a Tool Design Engineer in Winnipeg to join a team developing fabrication, weld, assembly, paint, and material handling tools and fixtures.

You will design CAD models and drawings, perform engineering analyses, conduct risk assessments, and contribute to continuous improvement efforts across tool design and manufacturing processes. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams and support tool builds through commissioning and cost estimating.

Competenze

• Graduate of an accredited Mechanical Engineering program.
• Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.
• Familiar with CAD, FEA, and design calculations.
• Experience with mechanical, hydraulic, or electro-mechanical systems.
• Strong presentation, organization and communication skills.

Tool Design Engineer

Participate as a team in the design, development, and continuous improvement of fabrication, weld, assembly, paint, and material handling tools and fixtures.

Responsibility

• Develop detailed tool designs to meet objectives of cycle time, tolerances, cost, etc .
• Identify, analyze, and mitigate tool design risks.
• Assist in tool set-up instructions, tool build planning, and commissioning.
• Develop CAD models, drawings, and supporting information that meet MacDon requirements.
• Engineering analysis of designs using hand calculations and electronic FEA (and other) tools to confirm design capabilities.
• Participate in design reviews to provide feedback regarding optimization or ease of tool design.
• Assist in troubleshooting jigs and fixtures during the tool build and prove out phases.
• Provide cost estimates of designed tools.
• Conduct and be involved in Risk Assessments.
• Lead and participate in Continuous Improvement activities.

Academic/Educational Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited Engineering program in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• Eligibility for EGM registration.

Required Skills/Experience

• Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.
• Familiarity of mechanical components, hydraulic systems, or electro-mechanical systems.
• Familiarity with traditional manufacturing processes ( e.g conventional and CNC machining, laser cutting, brake press forming, punching, welding and powder coat painting).
• Familiarity with a CAD system, FEA software, and design calculations.
• Must possess excellent presentation, organization, communication and logical problem-solving skills.
