Job summary

Linamar Corporation engineers are sought to design and improve productive harvesting equipment. You will collaborate with multiple teams to develop CAD models and perform analyses for robust, cost-effective products.

Travel for field-testing and cross-functional support is expected. The role focuses on heavy machinery design, hydraulic and electro-mechanical systems, and hands-on fabrication skills such as welding and machining.

Qualifications

• Experience with projects focused on heavy machinery manufacturing or design.
• Knowledge of mechanical components, hydraulic systems, and electro-mechanical systems.
• Familiarity with a CAD system, FEA software, design calculations.
• Experience with hands-on skills such as welding, machining, and mechanical assembly.
• Familiarity with various types of agricultural production systems is an asset.
• Familiarity with Agricultural Machinery and Manufacturers is an asset.
• Farm background is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Participation as a team member in project activities as assigned.
• Develop detailed product designs to meet objectives of performance, cost, durability, etc.
• Development of CAD models, drawings, and supporting information that meet MacDon requirements.
• Engineering analysis of designs using hand calculations, FEA software, and other tools.
• Identify, analyze, and mitigate product design risks.
• Prototype build planning and support.
• Product verification and validation through lab and field-testing.
• Travel to support product field-testing.
• Supporting cross-functional activities (purchasing, manufacturing, quality, publications, product support, etc.).
• Other duties as assigned.

You need to be ready to participate in a team environment in the development and the continuous improvement of innovative, market leading product designs. Team compositions vary and change, but consistently involve multiple engineers, technologists, team leaders, prototype shop and test personnel. There are also cross-functional interactions with supply chain, marketing, product support, publications, manufacturing, and other specialists.
