Accountabilities: How You Will Make an Impact
As part of our growing engineering team, the successful candidate will be responsible for mechanical design engineering tasks in the traditional nuclear market and in new initiatives to develop nuclear technology and future nuclear-powered systems. The successful candidate will be working within a multi-discipline engineering team mainly supporting the Engineering design team located at Kinectrics East office in Saint John, New Brunswick.
- Perform mechanical engineering analysis for new and existing nuclear power plants and designs including small modular and advanced reactors.
- Perform condition and performance assessments of mechanical systems and components.
- Interface with construction/procurement partners and utility stakeholders throughout the lifecycle of the design project to provide practical and effective solutions as per requirements.
- Provide field support for design and design modifications.
- Develop life cycle plans, including inspection and test programs.
- Perform engineering design and analysis following established Engineering design and change control procedures.
- Understand and assess client problems and determine appropriate means of solution.
- Conduct technical assessments and emergent troubleshooting/engineering to support new build projects and existing operating units.
- Interface effectively with other staff on multi-disciplinary design and technical projects.
- Stay current with developments within their field of expertise.
- Other duties as assigned.
What You Need to Succeed
- A Bachelor’s or Graduate degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent) is required.
- Mechanical or Nuclear engineering activities including piping and process systems design, vendor-interface and preparation of equipment specifications.
- Working knowledge of relevant codes and standards including but not limited to CSA N285, ASME Section III, Section VIII and B31.1.
- Knowledge and implementation of nuclear power plants Engineering Change Control process is an asset.
- Good working knowledge of basic generation plant design/operation related to Nuclear power plants.
- Experience with Small Modular Reactor or Advance Reactor designs is an asset.
- Candidates are expected to have or to pursue attainment of the P.Eng. designation.
- A minimum of 5 years relevant experience is considered necessary.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and be a team player.
- Must be able to organize and prioritize assigned work and coordinate multiple activities efficiently.
