Job summary

A well-known mining company in Canada is seeking an experienced Mining Engineer to join their team. In this role, you will oversee open pit mine planning and engage with various stakeholders to optimize mine production. Candidates must hold a Bachelor's Degree in Mining Engineering and have over 4 years of relevant experience. This position offers a rotation schedule of 14 days on and 14 days off, with accommodations and meals provided on site.

YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE:

Reporting to the Coordinator, Engineering, you will be part of the Engineering Department. You will act as the liaison between the Engineering, Geology, and Mine Operations departments on all short-range production related activities. You will also ensure that the goals and objectives of the team are achieved, while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s culture, Health & Safety Code of Conduct, and the environment.

  • Accountable for producing, communicating, and stewarding weekly open pit mine plans;
  • Developing new strategies and ideas to optimize mine production;
  • Engaging various stakeholders to manage change of new initiatives or mine plan objectives;
  • Reporting daily advance (Drill, Blast, Load, Haul) at the morning production meeting;
  • Providing the mill with daily and weekly ore blends;
  • Conducting haul road inspections and submitting reports to Engineering and Operations leadership;
  • Tracking compliance of waste dump development compared to plan and design;
  • Conducting a daily mine tour with Mine Operations General Supervisor;
  • Creating and maintaining the aggregate production schedule;
  • Providing drill pattern, mining, and placement limits to open pit survey team;
  • Mentoring and supporting EITs and newer members of the Mine Engineering team;
  • Promoting Health and Safety by participating and hosting the monthly Departmental H&S meeting;
  • Responsible for the Open Pit Engineering team in the absence of the Coordinator if required.
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mining Engineering;
  • 4+ years of experience in mining operations;
  • Member of the Canadian Engineering Society and/or eligible for NAPEG license is considered an asset;
  • Experience in open pit mine planning, drill and blast, or operations supervision;
  • Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite applications;
  • Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office software especially Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint.

Note that the official working language at Meadowbank Complex is English.

Your Work Schedule:

  • Schedule: 14 days of work, followed by 14 days for transportation and rest;
  • Accommodations and meals are provided on site at no cost to the employee. Agnico Eagle provides charter flights to and from the mine site and will accommodate to cover other travelling expenses according to your location of residence in Canada.
