Qualifications

  • 1+ years of previous work experience at a mine site (open-pit or gold mining is an asset).
  • Physically able to navigate a mine site with obstacles and uneven terrain.
  • Experience with CAD software is necessary.

Job description

The Greenstone Mine commenced production in May 2024 and will be one of Canada’s largest open-pit gold mines, with annual production expected to average nearly 400,000 ounces of gold per year for an initial 14-year mine life with additional potential from a large underground deposit. Greenstone Gold Mines LP is owned by Equinox Gold Corp, a Vancouver-based mining company with seven other operating mines in the United States, Mexico and Brazil.

Job Summary

We are seeking a Co-op Mining Engineer to join our team. Reporting to the Short-Range Planning and Drill & Blast Engineer, the successful candidate will assist with planning and drill & blast design for open-pit operations during the early phases ofmining.

This position will be based in Geraldton, Ontario on a 14 days on / 14 days off rotation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design drill patterns for our fleet of Pit Viper 235 and SmartROC D65 drills using Deswik mining software.
  • Monitor the progress and quality of drilling and pattern loading.
  • Design both Nonel and electronic blast sequences for loaded drill patterns using Dyno’s ViewShot3D software.
  • Assist operations with blast area access control and record blasts using a drone.
  • Document and evaluate blast results.
  • Assist the Short-Range Planning Engineer in the weekly updates to the 2-week mine plans.
  • Assist the Survey group with processing and preparing survey data.
  • Communicate with both the engineering and operations teams to transmit information, drawings and reports.
  • Follow proper document control procedures to ensure information is organized and readily accessible.
Required Experience and Skill Set
  • 1+ years of previous work experience at a mine site (open-pit and/or gold mining is an asset).
