Job summary

Skyjack Inc. is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to plan and design complex manufacturing processes in an industrial plant, improving production methods and setting up schedules. You will support machining, metal forming, plastics, welding, assembly, and material handling while mentoring drafters and technicians.

Responsibilities include tooling specification, plant layout, cost estimation, and continuous improvement through SCC activities. Ontario PE preference noted.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering or CET in Mechanical/Manufacturing.
  • Preference for Professional Engineer in Ontario.

Responsibilities

  • Specify new tools, equipment, and fixtures where required.
  • Resolve tooling difficulties with existing and new projects with the manufacturing support staff.
  • Investigate new manufacturing and tooling methods.
  • Define plant layout and ergonomic requirements.
  • Participate in Advance Quality Planning.
  • Assist in resolution of process scrap.
  • New product and process introductions.
  • Maintain tool lists, set-up instructions, and work instructions.
  • Manage standard costing modules.
  • Assist in ensuring process capability through capability studies.
  • Participate in corrective action with FMEA and CAT activities.
  • Perform other duties/projects as assigned.

May assist in time and cost estimates. May assign work to drafters and technicians, technical writers, engineering technicians, and machine shop personnel as required .

Responsibility
  • Specify new tools, equipment, and fixtures where required .
  • Recognize and resolve tooling related difficulties with existing and new projects while working with the manufacturing support staff.
  • Investigate new manufacturing and tooling methods.
  • Help in defining plant layout and ergonomic requirements.
  • Participate in Advance Quality Planning.
  • Assist in resolution of process scrap.
  • Change implementation champion.
  • New product and process introductions.
  • Maintain tool lists, set-up instructions, and work instructions.
  • Manage standard costing modules.
  • Assist in ensuring the process is capable through capability studies.
  • Participate in corrective action to meet ongoing cost, quality and delivery, in FMEA development and improvements, and participate in CAT activities.
  • Perform other duties/projects as assigned.
Academic/Educational Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering or C.E.T. in Mechanical or Manufacturing discipline.
  • Preference will be given to candidates registered or working towards becoming a Professional Engineer in Ontario.
Required Skills/Experience
  • 3+ years of experience within a relevant role and industry.
  • Ability to write comprehensive entries into technical logbooks which are then used as reference documents.
  • Ability to evaluate the ability of current building systems to address increased demands from plant operations.
  • Review scale drawings to ensure the proposed designs satisfy the clients' requirements and comply with manufacturing capabilities.
  • Interact with technicians or technologists for tasks such as creating scale drawings, preparing specifications, writing proposals and developing plant maintenance schedules.
  • Active knowledge of AutoCad , Excel, Word, Easytalk and MasterCam and understanding of geometric tolerancing and dimensioning. Experience with the use of statistical analysis software and computer-assisted design, manufacturing and machining.
