Title: Manufacturing Engineer

Job Details

TYCROP is looking for a Manufacturing Engineer to join our team in the Fraser Valley (we also have locations in Calgary and Texas). As part of our Manufacturing Engineering team, you will work in close collaboration with Operations to execute lean initiatives aimed at enhancing manufacturing efficiency. This role is characterized by hands-on involvement throughout the implementation process on the shop floor, ensuring attention to the finest details. Additionally, the position plays a pivotal role in supporting all departments' continuous improvement efforts.

Responsibilities:
  1. Understand TYCROP's manufacturing environment, processes and capabilities.
  2. Work with a team to design facility, production line, and equipment layouts.
  3. Engage in strategic planning with our core manufacturing group.
  4. Collect data, measure and identify opportunities to improve efficiencies.
  5. Assist in measuring and tracking cost savings.
  6. Standardize and document processes.
  7. Assist in creating value stream maps.
  8. Use effective tools to document projects and maintain status, such as A3 reports.
  9. Assist in quality planning and data analysis.
  10. Work with cross-functional teams: engineering, planning, purchasing, inventory control, and production.
  11. Support Lean projects in all areas of the company.
  12. Support employees and supervisors with continuous improvement projects.
  13. Manage projects and tasks effectively and remain on time.
  14. A hands-on individual who is willing to get involved with implementing projects on the shop floor.
  15. Ability to work and communicate directly with people in all departments to further refine efficiencies.
Specific Skills:
  1. Excellent interpersonal and team-building skills.
  2. Effective verbal and listening communication skills.
  3. Attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
  4. Very effective organizational and written communication skills.
  5. Computer skills.
  6. Able to execute a plan on the shop floor by measuring, layout, and erecting structures using basic tools.
  7. Confident to liaise with other departments in developing best practice methods through analysis and experimentation.
  8. Proficiency in process flow diagrams, documentation, and measuring improvements, shop floor work instructions.
  9. A strong ability to liaise with other departments while working on projects.
  10. Knowledge of ERP systems, Lean methods, and concepts.
  11. A mindset focused on verifying assumptions to base decisions on fact and sound logic.
Education and Experience:
  1. Experience in a wide variety of manufacturing trades, Production and/or Warehouse is an asset.
  2. Experience in reading drawings, BOM lists, ERP systems.
  3. Ability to measure, layout, set up racking and structures.
  4. Basic knowledge of processes/equipment such as press brakes, laser cutting, welding, painting.
