PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

From collaborating with industry-leading vendors to optimizing locomotive performance, to driving advancements in control systems, power electronics, and Supervisory Contril and Data Acquisition (SCADA) technology, your role will directly contribute to transforming the rail industry. POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Support all mechanical, electrical development and testing work on the hydrogen locomotive
  • Coordinate the implementation and installation of hydrogen locomotive specific technologies
  • Propose new processes and technologies to enhance hydrogen locomotive development
  • Work with power electronics such as Variable Frequency Drive (VFD), Buck/Boost Converters, Inductors, Power Electronics and Power supplies
  • Build schematic designs and implement technology from prototype to production system
  • Work with Human Machine Interface (HMI) and SCADA systems such as Ignition
  • Follow CPKC’s health and safety policy

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Electrical Engineering or a related field
  • Eligibility for (Engineer in Training (E.I.T.) registration with Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA)
  • 1 year of experience with Programmable Logic Controller (Rockwell, PLC), electronics control system, engineering & design (Contactors, Breakers, Relays)
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Valid passport, ability to travel to United States/Canada without restrictions

PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS

Medical and Drug Testing

This is a safety sensitive position and a successful pre-employment medical assessment including physical, vision, hearing, and a negative company drug test is required. Post hire qualification drug testing may also be required.

Management Conductor Program

Becoming a qualified conductor or locomotive engineer is the single best way for a management employee to learn the business at CPKC. You may be required to obtain a certification or to maintain your current certification/qualification as a conductor or locomotive engineer.
