About Island Gold District: Alamos Gold’s Island Gold District will become one of the largest and lowest-cost gold mines in Canada. With the two mines within the district, Island Gold and Magino employ over 900 team members who work in the underground and open pit operations and are located in northern Ontario, just east of the town of Dubreuilville, 83 kilometres northeast of Wawa. Through ongoing exploration success, Island Gold District’s Mineral Reserves and Resources have continued to grow in size and quality. Key Responsibilities:

  • Inspect open pits, underground excavations, dikes, dams, and other critical infrastructure as required.
  • Analyze relevant data to ascertain stability and take action to stabilize, as required.
  • Coordinate geotechnical and hydrogeological monitoring programs to ensure instrumentation and systems are relevant, functional, and properly maintained.
  • Ensure that instrumentation and geotechnical systems are utilized efficiently and effectively.
  • Assist in the coordination of the design and planning of future capital construction projects to enable construction activities to proceed as planned.
  • Direct, facilitate, monitor, and support construction activities in accordance with prescribed designs, methods, safety standards, timelines, costs, and quality requirements.
  • Develop and deliver internal and external status reports, summaries, analyses, warnings/bulletins, and correspondence as required by technical or regulatory demands.
  • Be available to provide knowledge and service as required to resolve issues or address concerns related to geotechnical engineering.
  • Expand position-relevant knowledge and skills through continuing self-directed or employer-sponsored professional development.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil, geological, or mining engineering required.
  • Working towards P.Eng registration with the Professional Engineers of Ontario.
  • Hands-on experience in construction, excavation, monitoring instrumentation, and/or technical field services is preferred.
  • Knowledge of geomechanical failure modes, monitoring methods and practices, and related data analysis.
  • Knowledge of the design and construction processes of major civil and/or mining structures.
  • Knowledge of specialist earthworks and geotechnical software applications.
  • Experience in structural stability monitoring, data analysis, and reporting.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license.
  • Demonstrated high level of energy, self-motivation, and strong organizational skills.
  • Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail, able to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, growing work environment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with a strong commitment to working in a safe, socially responsible manner.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, mine design suites (Deswik, Minesight and/or Promine), and AutoCAD is required.

Rotation:
- 7 on, 7 off
- Bunkhouse and Kitchen access are provided while onsite.
- Flights are available from Toronto, Sudbury, Thunder Bay and Rouyn, QC.
- Travel allowance depending on location.
