Introduction

Singapore recently unveiled the Singapore Green Plan 2030, which aims to meet commitments under the UN 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda and the Paris Agreement. Climate change is a global challenge, and GlobalFoundries is committed to contributing to a sustainable future. The APAC Environmental Engineer will perform analyses and drive implementation efforts as part of GlobalFoundries' Journey to Zero Carbon.

The Engineer will study ways to enhance Singapore's reputation as a hub of environmental excellence in the semiconductor and tech sectors. This position will support, implement, and communicate site-wide environmental policies and procedures, ensuring they are emphasized throughout the company's operations.

Your Job

  1. Implement environmental programs for air, water, waste, and energy, and monitor compliance with local environmental legislation, GlobalFoundries EHS Standards, and site targets and objectives.
  2. Assess the environmental impact and risks of existing operations and proposed changes. Lead technical investigations to determine potential risks to environmental, health, and safety aspects, and develop mitigation plans.
  3. Create environmental projects and collaborate with stakeholder departments and companies to lead them on GlobalFoundries’ Journey to Zero Carbon. Drive continuous improvement in environmental and sustainability performance.
  4. Provide technical advice on environmental engineering, pollution control, testing methods, and regulatory limits. Develop solutions to resolve environmental and sustainability issues, meeting obligations to regulators and customers.
  5. Conduct internal and external environmental audits based on ISO 14001, ISO 14064, and local regulations. Recommend corrective and preventive actions and oversee their implementation.
  6. Process large data sets and prepare regulatory reports. Document plans, procedures, data, and licenses. Collect environmental data and guide contractors in sampling activities.
  7. Promote EHS policies and raise awareness among employees, contractors, vendors, and visitors. Conduct EHS training as needed and collaborate with other EHSS sections to support the Journey to Zero.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, environmental, or related technology fields.
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Practical experience in manufacturing industries, preferably in semiconductors.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with engineering and operations in an industrial setting.
  • Knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and industry practices.
  • Self-starter, quick learner, proactive in driving change and solving problems.
