Job summary

Job Responsibilities

This position will be responsible for testing, and validating the systems that enable autonomous driving (AD) of vehicles, robots, or other platforms. The main focus will include (but not limited to) :

1) verifying hardware and software setup, (2) conducting on-road tests and data logging, (3) analyzing data to identify issues, (4) resolving issues and enhancing AD performance. The role involves working closely with multidisciplinary teams to develop and optimize system strategies, integrate sensors and actuators, and ensure safety and reliability. It also involves planning, executing, and coordinating New Mobility projects with internal, external, supplier, and academic partners.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Evaluation of technologies and product designs for compliance with standards and customer requirements
  • Development of innovative components from concept through validation, prototyping, testing, and process evaluation
  • Design and conduct research applying mechanics, thermodynamics, electronics, and materials principles
  • Contribute ideas for product and process innovation and share information with team members
  • Identify gaps in current technologies to guide R&D efforts
  • Analyze engineering results and propose improvements
  • Correlate experimental data with simulations
  • Monitor project schedules, coordinate activities, and resolve issues
  • Specify requests and coordinate subcontracted work, ensuring timely completion
  • Collaborate with project engineers to clarify or resolve problems
  • Maintain proper filing systems for all project information
  • Provide engineering support across departments as needed
  • Stay updated on developments in R&D programs
  • Interpret technical specifications from OEMs
  • Prepare project progress reports
  • Utilize software tools for technical analysis
  • Engage in continuing education to keep up with evolving technology
  • Travel domestically and internationally as required
  • Integrate and validate sensors like LiDAR, radar, and cameras
  • Participate in vehicle testing and validation for control performance
  • Troubleshoot sensor integration and control issues
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • 2-4 years of relevant automotive experience

  • Education / Experience

  • Bachelor's or higher degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Computer Science, Aerospace, Robotics)
  • Experience with automotive OEM or Tier-1 preferred
  • Experience in series production of ADAS systems preferred
  • Special Knowledge / Skills

  • Experience designing / testing ADAS systems like ACC, AEB, LKA
  • Proficiency with automotive development tools such as CANape, CANalyzer, Matlab / Simulink
  • Knowledge of ADAS / AD systems
  • Ability to handle limit driving scenarios
  • Strong English communication skills
  • Driver’s license in Ontario / Canada
