Automation Engineer

Position Overview

As an Automation Engineer, you will optimize manufacturing processes to enhance safety, quality, and efficiency. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify improvements, develop solutions, and implement process enhancements for operational excellence. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in engineering principles, programming, and automation tools, with a passion for workflow optimization and efficiency.

Responsibilities

1. Program and configure PLCs, HMIs, Robots, Vision Systems, and other control devices
2. Conduct system testing, troubleshooting, and debugging to resolve issues
3. Evaluate existing systems and processes for improvements
4. Collaborate with production, engineering, and quality teams to implement process changes and ensure seamless integration
5. Use data analysis to identify trends, troubleshoot, and optimize manufacturing processes
6. Lead root cause analysis for process deviations, quality issues, and equipment failures
7. Troubleshoot equipment and production process concerns daily
8. Follow safety protocols while working on automation systems and equipment
9. Assist in training junior automation technicians

Qualifications

• Post-secondary Engineering degree, diploma, or equivalent
• At least 5 years of experience with automated equipment
• PLC, HMI, & Servo programming experience with Allen-Bradley hardware
• Robot programming (ABB, Fanuc)
• Vision programming (Cognex & Keyence)
• Knowledge of industrial networks
• Strong programming, mechanical, and electrical problem-solving skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills for complex technical issues
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration and technical communication
