Position: Bench Operator

You will set up and operate various hand tools such as hammers, files, dremels, drills, presses, low temperature ovens, pullers, and hand grinders to perform tasks including blending, chasing threads, deburring, angle checking, coldworking metals, masking, and braze application.

Shift Requirement: Must be flexible to work both days and evenings (NO OVERNIGHTS)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set up and operate hand tools to perform specified operations.
  • Interpret specifications from manuals, blueprints, and layouts, translating them into actionable tasks.
  • Assemble machined parts and sub-assemblies using hand and power tools.
  • Align components manually and secure parts with bolts, screws, dowels, or rivets.
  • Verify dimensions and quality using precision measuring instruments.
  • Inspect work for quality and accuracy.
  • Operate test equipment such as pressure testers.
  • Participate in continuous process improvements.
  • Cross-train in additional skills to support production needs.
  • Support other technicians through cross-training and skill endorsements.
  • Observe safety protocols and report unsafe conditions immediately.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Technical Skills Required:

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Knowledge of precision measuring instruments.
  • Familiarity with company instructions, processes, OEM manuals, and MSDS labels.
  • Experience with production management systems and internal control systems.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted for about 25% of the workday.
  • Prolonged sitting required.
  • Specialized training in machine shop practices.

Qualifications:

The minimum education required is high school diploma or equivalent, with specialized training preferred. Candidates should be able to read medium-difficulty text, communicate non-technical information clearly, and demonstrate basic writing skills. Relevant work experience ranges from three to six months, with clearly defined goals and ongoing learning opportunities.
