Responsibilities
- Lead assigned Engage Life programs and develop service plans.
- Offer adequate and diversified recreational activities to residents with sufficient supervision for each activity.
- Teach and lead exercises and assist with the proper use of fitness equipment.
- Develop and facilitate programs of interest for residents including, if applicable, programs designed for residents confined to their rooms.
- Engage and motivate residents resulting in program participation.
- Greet new residents making a special effort to include and engage them in activities and introduce them to others in the community with similar interests and backgrounds.
- Use the ARC Resident Orientation Program, Resident Interest Questionnaire, and Resident Interview Questionnaire for all new residents.
- Inform residents of upcoming activities and maintain a current schedule of events on the bulletin board.
- Prepare and publish an engaging and creative monthly program calendar which incorporates the community’s events and programs by the 10th of every month (ex. December calendar due Nov 10). Ensure the calendar incorporates ARC’s 8 Dimensions of Engagement programs.
- Engage in community public relations including collaboration with corporate public relations and preparation of local positive publicity stories.
- Coordinate departmental needs and goals within department budgets.
- Organize community resident transportation, including scheduling of outside events and similar operational decisions.
- Assist in the recruiting, training and managing of volunteers where applicable.
- Assist in planning parties and activities as well as decorating the community according to the season and/or holiday throughout the years as well as planning monthly birthday parties to honor residents.
- Maintain activity spaces and work area clean and organized.
- May perform other duties as assigned and/or needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university preferred; one to two years related experience and/or training.
- Communicate effectively in English, verbally and in writing, with residents, staff, and vendors.
- Able to proficiently operate standard office equipment.
- Able to effectively utilize technology including use of computers, iPad/Tablet use, Word programming, internet access, email, and social media.
- Position may require driving responsibilities (may use Company provided vehicle and/or personal vehicle for social and other various activity and program-related outings).
- Must possess valid driver’s license.
- For applicable Company vehicle driving responsibilities, must be in compliance with provincial commercial licensing requirements to safely operate Community vehicle.
- Must satisfactorily meet and be in compliance with Atria’s Motor Vehicle Policy standards.
