Job description

Project Development Manager / Project Developer - Renewables & Energy Storage
Locations: FULLY REMOTE (CANADA)
This is an opportunity to join an industry-leading renewable energy venture with strong private equity backing, focused on the development, execution, and operations of utility-scale energy storage projects.
The company has accumulated over 9GW of projects in a short period and is currently expanding its Project Development Team in Canada.
The ideal candidate will have experience leading utility-scale renewable energy project development initiatives in the Greater Toronto area. This includes managing full lifecycle portfolios of solar, wind, or battery storage projects and proven experience taking projects to NTP. Key responsibilities also include negotiations and agreements with landowners and stakeholders such as local governments, economic development entities, and utilities. Experience with land permitting is a significant plus.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. The Project Development Manager / Developer will identify, research, and pursue land opportunities for utility-scale renewable energy and storage projects through community collaboration.
  2. Manage all activities related to site acquisition, financing, and development, including responding to RFPs.
  3. Negotiate site control agreements with landowners for renewable and energy storage projects.
  4. Oversee development activities for projects in the company's portfolio, focusing on tax abatement, permitting, and environmental compliance.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. 4-5+ years of experience in utility-scale renewable energy, energy storage, LNG, or natural gas projects with IPPs, developers, or owners.
  2. Leadership experience in project development, team, and commercial management.
  3. Hands-on experience with real estate transactions and contracts in renewables, natural gas, LNG, or energy storage sectors.
  4. Understanding of the RFP / RFI process related to project development.
  5. Experience with site siting, permitting, prospecting, and due diligence for solar, wind, or storage projects.
  6. Experience with land negotiations and project financing support.
  7. Experience with energy storage, battery storage, or solar + storage projects is a significant plus.
  8. Strong communication skills and ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
