Job summary

The IESO is seeking a seasoned market development professional to join the Markets & Reliability Business Unit in Ontario. You will drive market development initiatives, coordinate with government agencies and stakeholders, and provide strategic analyses to support the province’s evolving electricity market.

Qualifications

• Requires academic training in business, commerce, engineering, or economics to understand technical/economical parameters governing the energy industry.
• Requires analytical and organization skills to undertake studies, programs and projects of major issue and to interface with contacts.
• Typically requires four years university education in the appropriate field, or the equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Act as advisory lead on energy market developments and contribute to Ontario electricity market projects with a focus on market integration.
• Provide leadership within the group toward evaluation results and relevance for management decisions.
• Lead market development projects and manage external consultants as needed.
• Prepare contingency plans and actions to achieve long-term goals.
• Synthesize short- and long-term market development objectives and stay informed on market theories and energy trading methods.
• Represent the division on committees and forums, presenting methods, results, or analyses.
