Job description

About Edgecom Energy

Edgecom Energy is an AI-native energy management platform serving commercial and industrial facilities across North America. Our software monitors, predicts, and optimizes energy use, controls distributed energy resources, and participates in wholesale energy markets in a single integrated stack. We serve hundreds of the largest energy users across 240+ facilities and we're scaling fast: we recently closed our Series A and our team is set to double over the next 18 months as we expand across Canada and into US markets.

Edgecom Energy | Toronto, ON (Hybrid)
About The Role

As an Energy Market Associate reporting to the VP of Energy Markets, you'll operate the demand response programs that sit at the core of our business. You'll run Edgecom's IESO Capacity Auction participation and local DR programs day to day, work directly with commercial and industrial customers on their performance, and back up the wider markets team during peak season. It's a hands‑on role for someone who wants to understand how these markets actually work from the inside — and who's motivated by turning what the data shows into better ways of running the business.

Responsibilities
  • Run the IESO Capacity Auction program — availability, test events, dispatch notifications, and settlement verification.
  • Operate local and utility-sponsored DR programs — enrollment, event execution, and performance reporting.
  • Analyze performance and dispatch data to identify trends, root causes, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Turn analysis into action — improvements to internal systems, workflows, partner coordination, customer communication, and SOPs.
  • Deliver performance reporting to customers and the management team.
  • Own client-reported issues — triage with internal teams and keep customers informed.
  • Maintain program and registration data across all enrolled programs.
  • Serve as backup on coincident peak programs across North America — supporting teammates with IESO 5CP and PJM 5CP forecasting, notifications, and participation tracking.
  • Stay current on market and program rule changes and translate them into internal actions.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required
  • 2+ years in energy markets, demand response, or a related area of the electricity sector.
  • Working knowledge of the IESO market and how DR resources participate and settle.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical discipline.
  • Strong analytical skills and fluency in Excel with operational and interval meter data.
  • Self-starter who turns data and event results into practical, measurable improvements.
  • Clear written and verbal communication, including direct customer contact.
  • Desire to work in a fast-paced environment and find solutions in ambiguity.
Preferred
  • Electrical engineering degree or power systems background.
  • Familiarity with AESO, PJM, or NYISO market rules and DR products.
  • Experience with utility or LDC-sponsored DR programs.
  • SQL, Python, or BI tools for reporting automation.
What We Offer
  • Meaningful work with a purpose — reducing costs and emissions and saving energy for a more sustainable future.
  • A competitive salary of $90,000-$100,000 CAD, based on experience.
  • Outstanding health, vision, and dental benefits.
  • A potential equity participation program aimed at extending ownership opportunities to employees.
  • A small agile team where you'll be able to make a real-life difference.
  • Onsite gym at the office.
  • Hybrid work.
  • Personal days to promote work-life balance and employee well-being.
