Job Description

At WSP, our Energy Efficiency, Buildings teams, located across the country, bring together professionals of all abilities and backgrounds to meet the needs of our clients. These teams include mechanical, electrical and construction engineers, technicians from various disciplines, planners, refrigeration and building automation professionals, energy modelling experts and building sustainability specialists. We are involved in conducting pre-project assessments and completing construction, expansion and renovation mandates. We work on all types of commercial, institutional and industrial buildings for private and public contracts. We offer comprehensive energy efficiency services including energy and water audits, decarbonization studies, recommissioning (EBCx), energy measurement and verification, commissioning, energy modelling, building certification (LEED, BOMA BEST, WELL, Fitwel, ZCB, etc.), as well as financial subsidies preparation.

What you can expect to do here:
  • Carry out activities related to energy efficiency in buildings;
  • Assist in conducting energy and carbon audits (identification of measures, energy accounting, technical and financial analysis) for various types of buildings;
  • Conduct energy analysis and simulations of building design using specialized energy modelling softwares such as IESVE, eQUEST and RETScreen;
  • Conduct energy efficiency monitoring activities;
  • Prepare documents to obtain financial assistance related to energy efficiency;
  • Assist in designing strategies for implementing energy efficiency measures;
  • Draft energy retrofit feasibility reports and concept recommendations for projects;
  • Perform other relevant duties as needed;
  • Stay up to date with the latest advancements in energy analysis and green building practices, including local and national energy codes;
  • Work closely with project teams to meet sustainability and energy efficiency goals;
  • Communicate findings and recommendations to clients and project stakeholders.
What you’ll bring to WSP:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent training;
  • 1+ years of relevant experience in energy efficiency;
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, lighting and building envelope design;
  • Initiative and attention to detail;
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Excellent spoken and written English communication skills;
  • Ability to work in a team environment;
  • Experience in energy modelling (asset);
  • Knowledge of IESVE, eQuest and RETScreen energy modelling softwares (asset);
  • Experience in consulting engineering (asset);
  • Certifications such as CEM, LEED AP, CMVP, or accredited recommissioning professional (asset).
